Camp Meeting

One day while at Soquel camp meeting we went over to the ocean which was just about 5 miles away. I've never seen so many pelicans at one time in the air and diving for fish. It was beautiful.

This is just one end of the campground showing the many RVs and tents.

The theme was One Magnificent Obsession (out of focus) with a painting by Nathan Greene.

My Pal

We've had Giza here for a little over a week now this time. He wants to be with me all the time. He loves attention and can be a nuisance. When I sit or lie down he can hardly stand it without being petted. As you can see he's bigger than I am.

HEAT

It was 102 degrees in the shade today and it's supposed to be hotter tomorrow! With smoke in the air.

More Yosemite

Bridal Veil Falls

Watercolor classes were being taught and many artists were sketching the bridge and other things in this location. I was jealous!

This ranch in the middle of nowhere looked too idyllic to not take a picture.

There's nothing like rushing river water. It's music to my ears.

Yosemite

We hiked to Vernal Falls which was above a very steep, long trail with the water flowing beside us at times. The falls were well worth the climb. It's amazing how much water was flowing considering that California is in its worse drought in 159 years (I think).

Below we are in front of the Lower Yosemite Falls which lies in the Valley.
We were driving when we saw this buck, so by the time I got my camera out he was leaving.

This is a peaceful scene of El Capitan on the left and Bridal Veil Falls on the right showing the smoke in the air.

This is the Upper Yosemite Falls and a fallen driver taken in front of the Valley chapel shortly after we arrived in the Valley.

Yosemite

A view of El Capitan from the Merced River.

There were climbers on El Capitan. Can you see them? I understand a new record was set for the trip. It doesn't look like fun to me!

Yosemite

Here's the young bear we saw in the park. The first night at our campsite just out of Yosemite, I heard bears going around to the food storage bins looking for food. The next morning we saw that they had pulled over one of the big dumpsters and were able to pry open the lid just enough to reach in. The dumpsters had been chained down too. More photos to come.
