Lake Tahoe

Here we are at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe. It was a beautiful day and we had just taken a hike to Eagle Falls.

Point Reyes National Seashore

Sunday we went over to the coast with another couple to explore this peninsula north of San Francisco. We'll definitely go back another time to see more.

The flowers were prolific!

Elephant seals on the beach.

The famous lighthouse.

The wind was blowing hard.

Weekend in Glendale, CA

Alumni were invited to join the Glendale Adventist Academy choir for a special song. Al is on the far right in back.

Vallejo Drive Church where the academy reunion was held.

Glendale City Park

This is a view from the corner of cousin Janesta's house in Pacific Palisades.

Al in front of his old house in Glendale. This is where he, his sister and mother lived with his uncle's family when they brought the Voths out of Argentina.

This is Glendale Adventist Academy where we had lunch and Al went on a tour of the grounds and other buildings.

This CA quail was sitting on our deck railing a long time--just waiting for his picture to be taken. He and his mate will hatch at least a dozen babies this spring.

Today's walk

California poppies.

We went to Hennesey Lake for a walk in the heat mid-afternoon. There's a road for walking on 2 sides. We took the shadier side.

More Death Valley

The love bugs.

Negotiating boulders

A trail?

We're on top of this ridge, the second highest dune. My legs are still sore from the climbing.

Al is roughing a trail I didn't take as it seemed too risky.

There were many pretty, smooth walls in this canyon.

Trip to Death Valley

We're on top of one of the highest sand dunes in Stovepipe Wells.

This is the heart of Death Valley.

Christmas Cactus

This cactus blooms like our Michigan one did--Halloween and March. Strange!

Facebook

I've been much more active on Facebook lately. There are so many people to interact with one could spend all their time on it.

PEACE

If this isn't the perfect picture of peace, I don't know what is. I wish I had sat down and experienced the text, "Be still and know that I am God."

Women's Retreat

I just returned from a weekend women's retreat in Soquel, CA. 3 of us roomed together in a cabin and laughed ourselves silly last night. It was more fun. I might also mentioned I learned some things too! I didn't take my camera and didn't miss it either.

A SABBATH THOUGHT

"Man will rise no higher than his conceptions of truth, purity, and holiness." PP p. 91

Mexico

On the inland side of Manzanillo the hills go straight up from town.

I thought this was a pleasant beach scene in Zihuanatejo. We took tenders from the ship to shore because there was no pier to dock at.

We went on the kitchen tour in the ship.

This is a typical scene of fishermen cleaning a sailfish in Manzanillo.

The colorful plaza in Zihuanatejo.

Mexico

This hugh sculpture is in Manzanillo Harbor representing the fact that it is the sailfish capital of the world.

This is a zoomed in photo of El Cabo San Lucas at the end of the Baja pennisula taken as we passed by.

These people are cleaning clams. They have quite an array of shells too.

This cutie and another behind him were sitting in the fruit at the mercado. I'm sure they have a real feast there!

Vineyards

Today we went into Napa so I took my camera because I knew I wanted pictures of the vineyards now. The black mustard plants are in full bloom. I'm not sure but I think it's grown for its nutrients and rototilled into the soil as fertilizer.

Manzanillo, Mexico

Karen, someone we met on the ship, and I wandered around this town where most tourists didn't go. We found some very interesting places. The smells would knock you over. Fish were the worst.

These are bags of all kinds of beans. Behind her are bins of many herbs used in cooking and for healing.

This is part of a huge market where the locals shop. The colors were beautiful.
You've probably seen the rubber, fake chickens that look like this but these are real.

More Mexico

This was one of the prettier sunsets we saw.

Daytime photo where cliff divers jump.

Colored lights on the fort in Acapulco at night. We went to a movie which was shown at night on the back wall of the fort. It was the history of Acapulco.

Fort in daytime. It was right on the harbor and this was taken from the ship.
